Introduction

Lithium battery has been used in most electronic devices due to their advantages. It is undeniable that the service life of lithium batteries is gradually decreasing. This has been the main problem that bothers people.  Lithium batteries will deteriorate over the years but there are things you can do to increase Lithium Battery Life. Here are nine key ways to increase battery life, according to the team at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

How to improve your battery's Lifetime

The research team analyzed dozens of academic papers and manufacturer manuals. It came up with four categories and nine best practices for maximizing the life of lithium-ion batteries.

Over time, all components of a cell phone will deteriorate to some degree. This includes the battery's poles, electrolytes, membranes, and fluid traps.  The first piece of advice is to avoid exposure to either too high or too low temperatures, especially during charging.  If the phone overheats while charging, please remember to unplug the charger in time, and avoid charging in freezing conditions.  Because extreme temperatures can accelerate degradation of almost any battery component.

Overcharging

Second, the battery should not be overcharged or consumed too low.  Ideally, keep it a little over 80% charged and a little over 20% charged.  The reason is that a charge of more than 80 percent or less than 20 percent puts a lot of pressure on lithium-ion batteries. This causes their performance to deteriorate.  If 100% power is really needed, please take off the charger immediately after it is fully charged. This is to avoid the battery working overnight, and pay attention to not letting the battery lose power for too long.

LI-ion Battery Degradation Conditions
Third, if possible, avoid fast charging and discharging.  While fast charging is convenient, high current yields higher heat and increases the risk of battery degradation.  The same is true of high discharge rates, and power-hungry applications, as well as the operation of stomping on the switch, are quite detrimental to the battery.  To avoid abnormal shortening of battery life, try to use low power and slow charge when conditions permit, unless you are really in a hurry.

Finally, the research team recommends not using or storing lithium-ion batteries in wet environments and avoiding mechanical damage such as punctures.

Proposal according to these four categories, we at ordinary times should pay attention to, intentionally or unintentionally, to observe the environment temperature, slow play, don't long time retention charger, filling in the necessary keep 20 ~ 80% power, etc., to do so, will make their own electronic equipment of the extension of battery life to get to a certain extent, and also extend the service life of electronic devices.
